London Brewers’ Market Round-up: October 2018

On the London Brewers’ Market blog, we are featuring a monthly round-up of upcoming and unmissable events for London’s beer drinkers introduced by Rebecca Pate of Brewing East. Here are her picks for what’s happening in Londontown.

We’re in full-on autumn mode (whether you like it or not), so London’s beer-drinking public is migrating inside, favouring the cosy pub over the open elements. Thankfully, the change in weather never affects the number of fantastic events unfolding around this great city. So grab your scarf and start thinking about dark beer styles.

TAMBORINE MOUNTAIN LAUNCH: Friday, 5th October, 5pm-10pm. Head to The Experiment in Hackney for the first taste of Pressure Drop Brewing‘s newest beer, Tamborine Mountain, a NEIPA brewed with Mosaic & Amarillo hops. Named after a city in Queensland, Australia, we’re told that the beer ‘tastes like sitting on the verandah watching a thunderstorm rolling in with mango juice running down your chin’. Can’t argue with that. The Experiment, 19 Bohemia Place, E8 1DU. Free, more information here.

THE KERNEL – A CELEBRATION OF BIERE DE SAISON: Wednesday, 10th October, 5pm-11pm. Who doesn’t love a celebration, especially if it’s a celebration of beer? Down at Bottle Shop Bermondsey, they’re putting on the exceptional Biere De Saison range from everyone’s favourite, The Kernel Brewery. Needless to say, the line-up is looking incredible and there will be some tasty cheese courtesy of Neals Yard. Finally, Evin and Tanya from the brewery will be on hand for an informal, non-ticketed Q&A at 7:30pm. Don’t miss it. BottleShop: Bermondsey, 128 Druid Street, SE1 2HH. Free, more information here.

THE FIVE POINTS GREEN HOP SERIES LAUNCH AND GREEN HOP BEER FESTIVAL: Thursday, 11th October – Sunday, 14th October. Join The Five Points Brewing Company for their first official event at their newly refurbished taproom, The Pembury Tavern: the launch of their three green-hopped beers and a special Green Hop Beer Festival. They’ve brewed three beers with Kentish green hops (Fuggles, Bullion and Goldings), which will be represented alongside some other green-hopped beers from friends on both cask and keg. If you haven’t seen the new Pembo, we suggest you pop in for this! Pembury Tavern, 90 Amhurst Road, E8 1JH. Free, more information here.

AFFINITY DEAD PRETTY LAUNCH PARTY: Friday, 12th October, 5pm-10pm. The Affinity Brew Co crew recently brewed a special beer with Left Handed Giant in Bristol. This beer, Dead Pretty, is now ready for your consumption. It’s a 6.4% US IPA, so expect something bold from this lot. Plus they’ve promised the return of their Toowoomba lamington cake stout, which is worth the trip alone. Affinity Brewing Company, Railway Arch 7, Almond Road, SE16 3LR. Free, more information here.

TWO TRIBES MEET THE BREWER AND TAP TAKEOVER: Thursday, 25th October, 6pm-10:30pm. The always-fun crew at Two Tribes Brewing will be based at The Seveney for a meet the brewer and tap takeover event. Catch their head brewer, Chris, off guard with your pressing brewing questions while you enjoy one of his delicious beers (or just enjoy the beers). The Seveney, 382 Essex road, N1 3PF. Free, more information here.
