On the London Brewers’ Market blog, we are featuring a monthly round-up of upcoming and unmissable events for London’s beer drinkers introduced by Rebecca Pate of Brewing East. Here are her picks for what’s happening in Londontown.
There’s a discernible chill in the air as we move into September, but we’re still on a high after an unbeatable summer in London. We might need to leave the house with a jacket and scarf, but that won’t keep us from enjoying the last of the warmth. But soon it will be the season for warming dark beers, so it’s not all bad.
Whether you’re sticking to pale beers or moving on to drinking something more autumnal, there’s a great selection of London events across the month, especially if beer festivals are your thing.
HACKNEY BREWERY DEEP WATER LAUNCH AT THE AXE: Thursday, 6th September, 6pm-11pm. After recently brewing with Kings County Brewers Collective, the guys at Hackney Brewery have collaborated with more New York friends, Finback Brewery. They’ve come up with Deep Water IPA, which is set to be another great beer with American flare. Join them at The Axe to celebrate its launch. The Axe, 18 Northwold Rd, N16 7HR. Free.
THE BEAVERTOWN EXTRAVAGANZA: Friday, 7th September – Saturday, 8th September. Tottenham’s Beavertown Brewery are throwing their Extravaganza again this year after its successful debut in 2017. They’re showcasing beers from over 40 breweries from across the globe, including some London favourites like Affinity Brew Co, Hale Brewing, Partizan Brewing and Pressure Drop Brewery. There is also a KERB food yard, some acoustic music vibes and the chance to drink some of the best beers out there in a former print factory. Printworks London, Surrey Quays Rd, SE16 7PJ. Tickets are £40 + booking fees and can be purchased here.
GERMAN KRAFT & FRIENDS OKTOBERFEST: Friday, 21st September – Sunday, 23rd September. It’s Oktoberfest time and we can’t think of a better way to celebrate it here in London than with the help of German Kraft Beer Brewery. They’re partnered with three South London breweries to bring a piece of Bavaria to Mercato Metropolitano, so head over for special lagers from Anspach & Hobday, Gipsy Hill Brewing Company and Mondo Brewery (and German Kraft Beer themselves, naturally). There are a number of sessions, so don’t leave it too late and get your steins ready. German Kraft Beer, 42 Newington Causeway, SE1 6DR. Sessions from £10 and you can book yours here.
*new* PRESSURE DROP 1ST ANNIVERSARY SPECIAL: Saturday, 22nd September, 2pm-8pm. The Pressure Drop Brewery taproom has been a little haven in Tottenham for one whole year! Join them as they celebrate the milestone with a load of tasty beers from some of their friends, including London colleagues like Affinity Brew Co, Boxcar Brewery, The Kernel Brewery, Partizan Brewery and more to be confirmed. Pressure Drop Taproom, Unit 6, Lockwood Industrial Park, Mill Mead Rd, N17 9QP. Free.
*new* BEER ON THE HILL FESTIVAL: Saturday, 22nd September, 11am-8pm. Moncada Brewery recently moved from Notting Hill to a site in Dollis Hill with enough space to throw a beer festival, so that’s exactly what they’re doing! Join them to try some beers from other London faves, including Brewheadz, Gorgeous Brewery and Pillars Brewery. They’ll be tasty treats from Black Star Kitchen and DJs will be keeping toes tapping throughout the day. Moncada Brewery, 37 Humber Rd, NW2 6EN. Free, more information here.
CRAFT BEER CARES: Saturday, 29th September – Sunday, 30th September. Returning after last year’s sold-out success, Craft Beer Cares is a beer festival with a charitable focus. Held at London Fields Brewery this time, beers from over 20 breweries will be pouring. All beer has been donated by the breweries and proceeds will go to Art Against Knives, a London based anti-violence charity. Expect offerings from Brew by Numbers, Canopy Beer Co, Gipsy Hill Brewing Company, The Kernel Brewery, Partizan Brewing, Weird Beard Brew Co and more. London Fields Brewery, 369-370 Helmsley Pl, E8 3SB. Tickets are £12.50 per session, include a branded glasses and eight beer tokens, and can be purchased here.
