London Brewers’ Market Round-up: May 2018

On the London Brewers’ Market blog, we are featuring a monthly round-up of upcoming and unmissable events for London’s beer drinkers introduced by Rebecca Pate of Brewing East. Here are her picks for what’s happening in Londontown.

With May comes a joyous announcement: the first London Brewers’ Market of the year is upon us! We can’t wait to return to Old Spitalfields Market in East London on Saturday, May 12th, to bring you some of the most exciting beer being made in London right now.

Of course, it’s not the only event that is unfolding this month, so let’s get started on where and what you should be drinking in May.

BEAVERTOWN RESIDENCY LAUNCH PARTY: Wednesday, 2 May, 6pm-11pm. Tottenham sweethearts, Beavertown Brewery, are descending upon the Beer Merchants Tap in Hackney Wick for a month long residency and this is the big launch party. Stop by for eight lines of delicious Beavertown beers (cores and specials), a pop-up merchandise store and a silent auction for charity of some of Nick Dwyer’s, the brewery’s Creative Director, colourful work. BREWHEADZ TAP TAKEOVER: Thursday, 3 May, 5pm-10pm. The Italian friends behind Brewheadz Ltd will be bringing their flavoursome beers to Borough Market’s The Rake. Expect a line-up of delicious beer and some good vibes from the brewery crew, who will be available to answer any questions about what exciting things they’re brewing up in Tottenham. The Rake, 14 Winchester Walk, Borough Market, SE1 9AG. ORBIT BEERS LAUNCH WITH SIGNATURE BREW: Thursday, 3 May, 6pm-10pm. In a match made in heaven, musically inclined Orit Beers and Signature Brew are joining forces for an evening of DJ sets in celebration of the Orbit’s new White Label Series at the Draft House Camden. Other beers from both breweries will be flowing too, so head over for some great vibes with a mix of rock, funk, disco, hip-hop, boogie and indie. Draft House Camden Road, 102-104 Camden Road, Camden, NW1 9EA. LONDON BREWERS’ MARKET AT OLD SPITALFIELDS MARKET: Saturday, 12 May, 11:30am-6:30pm. We’re back for 2018! Join us at Old Spitalfields Market as we team up with our longstanding friends at the Independent Label Market to bring you beer from over 25 of London’s most exciting breweries. Watch this space for the brewery list as it’s confirmed, but expect a range of beer available from the likes of Anspach & Hobday, Bianca Rd Brew Co, Brewheadz Ltd, Brick Brewery, Bullfinch BreweryForest Road Brewing Co, Hackney Brewery, London Beer FactoryMondo Brewing Company, One Mile End BrewerySignature Brew and Truman’s Brewery (more TBC). FOOD & BEER PAIRING EVENING WITH FOURPURE: Tuesday, 15 May, 7pm-10:30pm. The King & Co are hosting Fourpure Brewing Co for a gargantuan 6 course beer pairing meal. Six Fourpure beers will be expertly matched with six courses – the menu is TBC, but beers have been confirmed as: Indy Lager, Easy Peeler, American Pale Ale, Trail Head  Guava IPA, Spice Route Milkshake Pale Ale and the delicious Bourbon Maple Stout. The King & Co, 100 Clapham Park Road, SW4 7BZ. Tickets are £35 and can be purchased here.

ROYAL DALSTON BEER DAY: Saturday, 19 May, 1pm-10pm. Dalston Beer Day always brings crowds to the 40 FT Brewery taproom. This time, it coincides with a particular royal wedding, so all the more reason to stay away from the furore and instead enjoy a beer from some of London’s coolest breweries.
