On the London Brewers’ Market blog, we are featuring a monthly round-up of upcoming and unmissable events for London’s beer drinkers introduced by Rebecca Pate of Brewing East. Here are her picks for what’s happening in Londontown.
We’re truly into autumn now, with Halloween now in our sight and a discernible chill hanging in the air. The fact that days are getting shorter means more time for cosy pubs and taprooms for some, but others are still happy to bundle up and persist with al fresco events.
Thankfully, October brings both indoor and outdoor gatherings hosted by London breweries to enjoy.
Just don’t bring up the contentious issue of pumpkin beers and everyone will get along just fine…
BEAVERTOWN TAP TAKEOVER AT THE RAKE: Wednesday, October 4, 5pm-10pm. Borough Market’s The Rake is hosting Tottenham legends, Beavertown Brewery, for one night only. Some of Team Beaver will be on hand to keep the beer and conversation flowing. ROARING FOUR’S 2ND BIRTHDAY PARTY: Saturday, October 7, 2pm-10pm. Roaring Four Brewing Company, a gypsy brewery that’s mostly London-based, will be celebrating their 2nd birthday with their friends, London Beer Lab in Brixton. LONDON BREWERS’ MARKET AT GREENWICH MARKET OKTOBERFEST: Friday, October 13, 6pm-10pm. To celebrate Oktoberfest, London Brewers’ Market is pairing with Greenwich Market for maximum oompah antics. German beer styles will be showcased from a list of London breweries and Bavarian culinary delights will be served up from Greenwich market food vendors. SOLVAY SOCIETY TAP TAKEOVER: Thursday, October 19, 5.30pm-8.30pm. Draft House in Tower Bridge is hosting a Solvay Society tap takeover for you lucky people. Free samples are promised (first come, first served) alongside a range of Solvay Society’s Belgian-inspired beers. Expect Exotic Physics, a new Belgian IPA, alongside Structure of Matter, a Belgian pale ale, Tritium, a pink peppercorn rye tripel and Superposition, a witbier session IPA. Tasty beers all around. PORTER TASTING AT ANSPACH & HOBDAY: Thursday, October 19, 6:30pm-10:30pm. It’s the right time of year for darker beers, so this special porter tasting event held at Anspach & Hobday is set to be very popular. Billed as an exploration of London’s greatest style, ticketholders can expect 8 tastings and a discussion about the history and development of the style. Beers will come from London and beyond, with 4 samples from Anspach & Hobday’s own range. Expect to leave with a newfound appreciation of all takes on Porter. LONDON BREWERS’ MARKET AT VENN STREET MARKET: Saturday, October 21, 10am-4pm. We’re joining our friends at Venn Street Market for a second dose of London Brewers’ Market this month. Six London breweries, including The Five Points Brewing Company, will provide refreshments alongside the Saturday farmer market vendors. DALSTON CHILLI DAY: Friday, October 20, 5pm-11pm. If you like things on a the spicy side, 40FT Brewery have got you covered. As part of Dalston Chilli Day, they’ve brewed a special Chipotle Beer to pair with the other fiery offerings: Dalston Chillies hot sauce, chilli oysters from Rocks Oyster Bar and a chilli margarita from Cold’N’Blac. *new* AFFINITY BERMONDSEY OPENING PARTY: Saturday, October 21, 12pm-8pm. Affinity Brew Co may have their roots in Tottenham, but they’re acquired a handy arch in Bermondsey where they’ve set up an even handier taproom. Located in one of the Partizan Brewing’s old sites, head over to see the next chapter for the Affinity crew in the company of great beer on draught and in cans to drink in or take away. ELECTROBERFEST 2 AT 40FT: Saturday, October 21, 5pm-11pm. Everyone knows that the crew at 40FT Brewery can throw one heck of a party – and this will be no exception! Head to Dalston for the second Electroberfest. an event boasting some smashing German electro hits courtesy of Dj Kai-Uwe Müller in addition to a special tasty doppelbock, naturally named The Electrobotor, from the brewery. *new* BIANCA ROAD’S HOUSEWARMING PARTY: Friday, October 27, 6pm-11pm. Help Bianca Road Brewing Co christen their new brewhouse located in Bermondsey. They’ve made all of the necessary preparations for a great night, including: a full bar (which obviously entails plenty of their beer, which will be SUPER fresh), music and some tasty morsels to accompany your drinks. PILLARS FIRST BIRTHDAY PARTY: Saturday, October 28, 12pm-12am. Walthamstow’s lager-focused Pillars Brewery is turning one this month and they’d love for you to celebrate with them.
