London Brewers’ Market Event Round-up: August 2017

On the London Brewers’ Market blog, we are featuring a monthly round-up of upcoming and unmissable events for London’s beer drinkers introduced by Rebecca Pate of Brewing East. Here are her picks for what’s happening in Londontown.

August is here, which means one thing: it’s London Beer City time!

Between the 3rd to 13th August, breweries will be bringing drinkers an unrelenting line-up of events, tap takeovers and parties in every corner of the city. We’ve put together a special round-up of LBC events here to ensure that you don’t miss a. single. thing.

In addition to LBC, London breweries will be hosting regular events during the month – and it’s crucial that we squeeze as much as possible out of summer, so let’s keep the party going throughout August, shall we?

(Watch this space, as more events are likely to pop up after the initial frenzy of LBC!)

THE FIVE POINTS SUMMER TAP: Saturday, August 5, 1pm-8pm. All summer long, those lovely bunch at The Five Points Brewing Company are hosting yard parties in their warehouse space in the heart of Hackney. This week will be focused on new breweries, showcasing beer from some of London’s freshest additions alongside their own range. At 2pm, there will be a panel discussion featuring Stephanie Palgrave-Elliot from Caps and Taps and Archie Village from Villages, so don’t miss it. Food will be served up from Capish? to keep tummies happy. The Five Points Brewing Company, 61 Mare Street, E8 4RG. Free, more information here.

CANOPY YARD PARTY: Saturday, August 12, 6pm-2am. Whether you’ve been partaking in the excesses of London Beer City or you’re just looking for a beer on a Saturday night, head to Canopy Beer Co for a guaranteed good time. Expect a selection of their range alongside a DJ to keep feet moving (disco and house have been promised). Be kind to the LBC revellers who do show up, as they’re on the homestretch with only one more day to survive. Canopy Beer Co, Arch1127 Bath Factory Estate, 41 Norwood Road, SE24 9AJ. Free, more information here.

GIPSY HILL’S 3RD BIRTHDAY PARTY: Saturday, August 19, 12pm-10pm. Gipsy Hill Brewing Company is turning three and they’d love for you to come help them celebrate and it’s set to be a real bash: succulent meats will be available from Roast Hog (with more options available from a local business TBC). Two bars will be pouring all of their favourite beers with some specials thrown into the mix. They’ll also have a giant beer pong table set up, all to the soundtrack of funk and soul provided by the King of Penge & Double Denim. Gipsy Hill brewing Company, Unit 11 – Hamilton Road Industrial Estate, 160 Hamilton Road, SE27 9SF Free, more information here.

BEAVERILLIUM IPA LAUNCH: Saturday, August 19, 2pm-8pm. Tottenham darlings Beavertown Brewery have collaborated with the superbly talented US brewery, Trillium Brewing Company, to create a mind-blowing IPA (it’s 7.5% and packs a punch). To mark this momentous occasion, they’re hosting a ticketed afternoon at their taproom, where the beer will be available in cans and on tap. You can either elect to pay for your glass and beer on the gate, or grab a six pack (cans must be bought in advance and won’t be on sale on the day). Beavertown Brewery, 17-18 Lockwood Industrial Estate, N17 9QP. Tickets are £6.50 (entry with a 1/2 pint) or £30.50 (entry with a six pack and a 1/2 pint) and can be purchased here.

*new* LONDON BREWERS’ MARKET AT GREENWICH MARKET: Friday, August 25, 6pm-10:30pm. It’s a Carnival special for the August bank holiday weekend, so prepare yourself for sounds and atmosphere galore! We’re teaming up with Greenwich Market to bring the beer to their Street Food Festival: Carnival Flavours event with an all-star line-up of London breweries: Bianca Road Brew Co, Bullfinch Brewery, The Five Points Brewing Company, Hackney Brewery, Signature Brew and Solvay Society. It goes without saying that there will be steel pan drumming and reggae music to keep the carnival spirit going throughout the evening. Greenwich Market, 26 King William Walk, SE10 9HZ. Free, more information here.

*new* FIVE POINTS END OF SUMMER PARTY: Saturday, August 26, 1pm-8pm. Bid the summer adieu at the final of The Five Points Brewing Company‘s Summer Tap series. Held in their Mare Street warehouse yard, this ultimate installation will feature some treats, including new (and inevitably tasty) dishes from Capish? and a huge selection of beers from their own range and from friends alike (including Redchurch Brewery, Partizan Brewing and Orbit Beers). There will also be a market from the folks at East End Trades Guild, showcasing a spread of artisanal products. The Five Points Brewing Company, 61 Mare Street, E8 4RG. Free, more information here.

*new* TRIPLE TAP TAKEOVER: Saturday, August 26, 12pm-late. There will be beers on offer from a trifecta of London breweries at the Red Lion in Stoke Newington. Alongside Camden Brewery, East London’s 40FT Brewery and The Five Points Brewing Company will have four beers each respectively showcased. Representatives of each brewery will also be milling about poised to answer your questions and toting some merch to give away. Saturday vibes will be completed with an acoustic set in the pub’s beer garden. Red Lion, 132 Stoke Newington, Church Street, N16 0JX. Free, more information here.

SIGNATURE BREWERY OPEN DAY: Saturday, August 26, 1pm-8pm. The Signature Brew crew invited drinkers into their brewery last month and they’re doing it all over again. If you’re near E10, you’ll want to stop in for a fantastic line-up of beer and revelry. Special beers on offer include the second instalment of their Solo Series: Simcoe and a brand new wheat beer, White Keys. Burgers will be flipped by Baggio Burger and definitely show up for the 3pm tour lead by their brewer, Tim (reserve your place by e-mailing lilli@signaturebrew.co.uk). Signature Brew, Unit 25, Leyton Business Centre, E10 7BT. Free, more information here.
