London Brewers’ Market Event Round-up: May 2017

May is an exceptional month (mostly down to not one, but two, long weekends). London is flirting with summer and we’re ready for any excuse to drink outdoors. Yes, most of the events listed below take place inside- but it’s likely for the best because it will probably rain anyway (sorry to be a downer).

But whether it’s balmy or chilly, we’ll still happily drink some great beer around the city, so let’s make this month count.

KEW BREWERY TAP TAKEOVER, MEET THE BREWER AND BEER LAUNCH: Wednesday, May 3, 6pm-late. Expect Kew Brewery to be very busy this month, as it’s not only their 2nd birthday, but they’ve just collaborated on a beer with Weird Beard Brew Co. If you can’t make the party at the Dodo Micropub (see below), head to The Pineapple in Kentish Town for the first official launch of the Fruitbat beer, a strawberry and blackberry pale ale. Remember: this is only part 1 of the birthday celebrations, followed by a second party on May 9th. Get involved. The Pineapple, 51 Leverton St, London NW5 2NX. Free.

LONDON BREWERS’ MARKET AT GREENWICH MARKET: Friday, May 5, 6:30pm-10:30pm. We’re bringing a taste of East London south of the river! The London Brewers’ Market will be setting up in Greenwich for a special night market and, as you’d expect, there will be a solid list of London breweries involved, including: The Five Points Brewing Co, Partizan Brewing, Orbit BeersBullfinch Brewery & Tap Room, The Gipsy Hill Brewing Co, The London Beer Factory, Canopy Beer Company, The Brockley Brewing Company, Bianca Road Brew Co and Villages. Phew. This incredible line-up will be accompanied with some great tunes on the evening from the Independent Label Market, who are co-hosting the shindig. Greenwich Market, London SE10 9HZ. CINCO DE MAYO FIESTA WITH MONDO: Friday, May 5, 7pm-11pm. Mondo Brewing Company have teamed up with Draft House Old Street to bring you this banging Mexican-themed celebration. There’s mucho fun to be had in the guise of a sombrero stand game, a chance to beat the brewer at a chilli eating challenge (yes, you read that right) and even – naturally – pinatas. Mondo will have their tasty Mexican Lager pouring as well, so this oughta be a fantastic fiesta. Better dig out those novelty mustaches now. Draft House Old Street, Mews Unit, The Bower, 211 Old St, London EC1V 9NR. Free: https://www.facebook.com/events/1934487363452822/

WE NEED TO TALK ABOUT CONVERSATIONS, PART 2: Friday, May 5, 7pm-11pm. Are you terrified at the prospect of talking to a stranger? We all know how infrequently we actually have discussions with people outside of our social groups in London and the guys at 40FT Brewery are asking us to open up. Everyone will be paired with a stranger (or not, if they prefer) and given 30 minutes of topics to breeze through. There will be some music on the evening and, naturally, beer will be pouring in the taproom. What an inspired idea. 40FT Brewery, Bootyard, Abbott Street, London E8 3DP.
