London Brewers’ Market Event Round-up: July 2017

On the London Brewers’ Market blog, we are featuring a monthly round-up of upcoming and unmissable events for London’s beer drinkers introduced by Rebecca Pate of Brewing East. Here are her picks for what’s happening in Londontown.

July means that we’re already half way through 2017. It’s certainly been a strange sort of year, but there’s still time to turn it around. London has seen some clement (and frankly uncomfortable) weather and beer garden season is officially in full force. July always packs a punch with a solid line-up of events in the city, so get ready to make your summer count.

Let’s do this, July.

CRAFT BEER CARES: Saturday, July 1 – Sunday July 2, 6pm-10.30pm both days. Who cares, you ask? The people in the craft beer industry do! Breweries from far and wide have contributed beer for this event, which will see all profits donated to two great charities: Mind and the Newman Trust. The amount and scope of beer donated is impressive, with a huge line-up of London breweries taking part. Tickets have been flying out (the Saturday session is now sold out), so don’t miss out on your chance to see just how much craft beer really does care. Brew Club, 38-40 Upper Clapton Road #9, E5 8BQ. Tickets for the Sunday session are £14.40 each and can be purchased here.

THE FIVE POINTS SUMMER TAP LAUNCH: Saturday, July 1, 1pm-8pm. Those lovely folks at The Five Points Brewing Comany are bringing back their fun-filled yard parties for 2017, but with a change: instead of once a month, they will be hosting events every Saturday in their warehouse yard over the summer. They welcome you to join them for beers on tap and to take away (perfect for nearby summer picnic sessions). There will be DJs on hand to keep the summer vibes going and some tasty food from the likes of Capish? and other top-notch vendors. The Five Points Brewing Company Warehouse, 61 Mare St, E8 4RG. Free, more information here.

BREWHEADZ SUNNY SIDE LAUNCH: Saturday, July 1, 12pm-8pm. Tottenham newcomers Brewheadz will be launching their new Sunny Side session IPA and want you to be the first to have a taste. In addition to this easy-breezy summer beer, they’ll have other core beers on tap and to take away. They also promise some delicious savoury pastries from Prestige Patisserie. Brewheadz Taproom, Unit 16a, Rosebery Industrial Park, N17 9SR. Free, more information here.

ORBIT BEERS 3RD BIRTHDAY BASH: Saturday, July 1, 12pm-10pm. Join Orbit Beers to celebrate their 3rd birthday – a trove of surprises and fun are promised, including old favourites and limited edition beer, hotdogs and music. Special merchandise will be available to purchase on the day and you won’t want to miss out on the official unveiling of their new branding. This will be an unmissable day with good vibes aplenty. Orbit Beers, 225 & 228 Fielding St, SE17 3HD. Free, more information here

LONDON BREWERS’ MARKET SUMMER EDITION: Saturday, July 8, 11am-6.30pm. Head down to Old Spitalfields Market for the London Brewers’ Market summer session. As always, expect an unbeatable selection of London breweries to be serving up some intensely tasty beers. Held in conjunction with the Independent Label Market, there will also be a backdrop of banging tunes for you to enjoy while visiting stalls from the likes of  Fourpure Brewing Co., Bohem Brewery, Villages, Partizan Brewing and The Five Points Brewing Company. We might be biased, but…this is going to a be a highlight of the summer, so don’t miss out. Old Spitalfields Market, 16 Horner Square, E1 6EW. Free, more information here.

HACKNEY SUMMER FETE: Saturday, July 8, 12pm-6pm. The Hackney Summer Fete is back this year to showcase the diversity and creativity that the borough is famous for. Expect a line-up of activities, music, food and – you guessed it – beer. This is a free and family-friendly afternoon, hosted in the beautiful St John at Hackney Church’s gardens. Last year, 10,000 people showed up and 2017 is promising to be even bigger and better. Signature Brew will be pouring throughout the afternoon with some help from the crew at HonestBrew to quench your thirst. Hackney Summer Fete, St John at Hackney, Lower Clapton Road, E5 0PD. Free, more information here.

HACKNEY BREWERY’S 6TH BIRTHDAY BASH: Saturday, July 15, 12pm-8pm. Hackney Brewery is celebrating its 6th birthday and you’re invited around to party under the brewery’s arches. They’re been hard at work, making big changes to their beer and branding over the past months. Taste the tasty new beers for yourself, including some of their seasonal summer wheat beers, and see their fresh new look. Food will be served up and a great East London crowd guaranteed (alongside some adorable brewery dogs…). Hackney Brewery, 358 Railway Arches, Laburnum St, E2 8BB. Free, more information here.

40FT 2ND BIRTHDAY PARTY: Saturday, July 15, 3pm-11pm. That’s right – it’s a Saturday of not one but two brewery birthday parties in East London. The crew at 40FT Brewery in Dalston are celebrating their second anniversary and have arranged for tasty food, live music and a plethora of beer to entertain crowds. There will be a special barrel-aged version of their Deepest stout available in bottle and some special one-off beers on tap. 40FT Brewery, Bootyard, Abbott Street, E8 3DP. Free, more information here.

*new* SIGNATURE BREW BREWERY OPEN DAY: Saturday, July 22, 1pm-8pm. Get inside the brewery with the Signature Brew team. During this open brewery day, plenty of beer will be available – including their core range and some special edition beers – as will food, music and great company. The team will be hosting brewery tours during the afternoon at 2pm and 4pm respectively (places should be reserved in advance by e-mailing lilli@signaturebrew.co.uk). Signature Brew, Unit 25, Leyton Business Centre, E10 7BT. Free, more information here.

PECKHAM CRAFT BEER FESTIVAL: Saturday, July 22 and Sunday, July 23, 12pm-12:30am. The inaugural Peckham Craft Beer festival is promising to be the largest such event that South London has ever seen. Hosted by The London Beer Factory, expect a line-up for South London breweries on offer (in addition to other London-based breweries) against a backdrop of live music, a rooftop bar and lots of street food, all located in Copeland Park. Best of all? It’s free (but register here). Copeland Industrial Park, 133 Copeland Rd Unit 9a, SE15 3SN. Free, more information here.
